  1. Sandy–

I’m just clicking around the ladies who went to GNO (I was at GDO)…when I found you. And, guess what? This could be MY testimony. You have so beautifully summarized what most of my ranting posts this fall have been trying to describe!!!

When people ask how I do it, I recite my mantra for this year. My time is not my own. I go to God first, ask him and I am committed to serving my family first when they are awake. The hours that they sleep are mine…with God’s permission…if that makes any sense at all. I’ll be following because I have a sneakin’ suspicion that I’ll never experience “me time” again…It’s all His!!! I’ll be praying for you and your planner tomorrow morning 🙂

    Nice to meet you tonight,
    Lisa

  2. Very funny, and I can relate. I’m not so much a “planner,” but I can definitely throw a fit (stomp and cross arms) when my little “plan” doesn’t go like I want.

I often ask God to order my steps each morning, but I never considered some of the interruptions in my plans being by His Hand. Hmmmmm. A thought to ponder.

    Have a blessed Monday!
    Beth

  3. Hi new friend!

I love this and can relate to so much of it. What a great quote by A.W. Tozer.

And I loved how you ended this whole post with the mapped out plan for Coming up on God Speaks Today!

  4. Sandy,

I like the word ‘planning’ vs. ‘control’. I too am a planner. Unfortunately that means I don’t always do well with surprises if those surprises take me off the course of the day. However, I regularly ask God to lead my steps and therefore in the midst of whatever takes me off course I’m often able to see that it’s by GOD’S DOING and not by my own or by other people or circumstances (although at times it’s those things as well).

Great message! May we always commit our ways to the LORD so that whatever we do it’s for His glory.

  5. Wow, that was awesome! I am also one with the Gift Of Plan and I sometimes struggle when things don’t go according to my agenda (especially when I need a good night’s sleep and the boys are up all during the night with various requests).
    Thanks for the reminder.
    Love ya!
    Jess

  6. Oh girl, I love my plans but I have learned to plan with open hands and ask Him to rearrange mine to match His!!

Can’t wait to read your post on Weds about Girls Night Out and see your photos!!1

    Hugs,
    Renee

  7. Sandy,
I loved this… except that I have the opposite problem. I struggle to plan… I try really hard to plan, and it just doesn’t come naturally to me. I manage to be there on time to pick up the girls from school, and I manage to get dinner on the table at 5:00. Beyond that, it gets dicey. Perhaps you should start a (How to) PLANNING BLOG. Sign me up!
As always, you are wise and wonderful!
    Jennifer

  8. Having been a “planner” since grade school, old habits certainly die hard. It is just a part of my personality, but ever since making a deeper commitment to the Lord to follow in His steps and let Him guide me,turning over my hopes and dreams has been a relief actually. There is so much more peace and contentment, even in the middle of trials, that I regret the years I wasted trying to run everything my way and by my timeline, instead of the Lord’s. Looking forward to reading more of your posts in this series…..

  9. What a wonderful series! And boy could I use some help in this area…whew!

I just love all your wisdom and insight 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

I can’t wait to hear how your weekend in Houston went!

    Have a great week 🙂

    Hugs and Love,
    Kate 🙂

  10. Oh, I have control issues alright… but not so much a planner. Is that a weird combo or what???

Never realized the control issues much until recently, as God has pointed out such during rock climbing, mountain climbing and a car accident. Why so dramatic… oh that’s right, He’s speaking my language! :o) I will learn right???
