Weekend Links {12}
Perhaps I should rename this weekly feature “Weekend Update (and also some Links)” or something like that. This is the only time I feel like I’m writing you all a quick and unedited email catching up on life…and also sharing links. The links seem so secondary. I mean, who cares about links when you have this?
That’s right.
Sale Pending = No More House-Showings = Sayonara Fake House
This happened Wednesday, just as my realtor was bringing his team of very nice people to tour my home, in order to familiarize them with it for future showings. So, basically, eight or so nicely-dressed people showed up at my door (I always remember I’m in yoga pants and a pony tail when I encounter nicely-dressed people), toured my home (ooh-ed and aah-ed over our beareded dragon) and then ceremoniously walked to my front lawn to replace “New Listing” with “Sale Pending.”
They should do that EVERY time they sell a house, because it was WAY more exciting than a phone call.
A few hours later, I left town for two days to speak. I really want to devote this event to it’s very own post, so that’s all I’m going to say about that right now. Sorry.
I returned in time to help my sweet baby girl get all prettied-up for her big night out: The Annual Father/Daughter Dance. How cute are they?
One thing I’ve learned about myself is that speaking engagements, as much as I enjoy them, suck the ever-loving life out of me. I need a full day to unapologetically and unashamedly HIDE FROM HUMANS when it’s over. I don’t know…my body and my brain just shut down. So, after I sent Dad and Daughter out for a night of dining and dancing, the other two kiddos went across the street to hang out with friends. And I made myself a delicious dinner and watched two week’s worth of American Idol on the DVR. It was the closest thing to heaven I’ve had in quite some time.
With the sale of the house and the speaking engagement behind me, I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders.
I hope wherever you are on this lovely spring day that it’s warm and sunny and you can open your windows. We can’t. Because, with the sale of the house, it’s Home Inspection time. And the home inspectors installed a Radon Detector, with which the windows need to remain closed.
I don’t even care. Because this:

Grace is Good Enough for Us, by Glennon Doyle Melton. If you’ve ever lost it with your kids, this will resonate. If you’ve never lost it with your kids, please tell me how that works, exactly.
Anxiety in Kids, by Hey Sigmund. After a week talking two kids AND myself down from the proverbial ledge, this was both timely and helpful. Anxiety is such a bear!
Here We Are Again, By Sarah Bessey. BEAUTIFUL! This post almost makes me want to have another baby. I said almost.
Why You Can’t Not Open That Door, by The Nester. After 10+ years of living in this house, the only time it looked perfect (and I do mean P-E-R-F-E-C-T) was when it was staged for a showing (Fake House). As I prepare to launch into a new era in a new home, I pray I will not wait for perfection before I invite people in.
Congratulations!!
I hope the rest of the transition goes smoothly!!
Thank you, Georgette. 🙂 I saw Trina sold hers too. I’m so thankful we don’t have to relocate.
Thank you for your best wishes for Spring. You’ve been to Alberta at the end of March – it is snowing!
Congratulations on the sale of your house!!
I look forward to hearing about your talk.
Thanks Mark!!!
Congrats!! Seeing that sign made my heart skip. Such great news! =)
We had our windows open a couple days ago and today it is snowing. Gotta love spring and the crazy weather changes here. lol
We’ve had crazy weather, too. I still LOVE seeing the tiny buds on the trees and the daffodils bursting through the ground…even if it’s raining and 40 degrees.
Speaking does that to me, too! I was a bear yesterday. Plus we had some chaos going on in regards to sale of our house. I probably should’ve just stayed in a hotel for the night after the retreat I spoke at, lol. (Your supper looks yummy-licious!)
I need a full day to come down after speaking. I think for future engagements, I will do just that…actually schedule the following day either in the hotel or at home alone.
You’re selling your house? I didn’t know that. Sorry, I’m off the grid, mostly. I don’t even know what my own family is doing half the time.
