Weekend Links {16}
Remember when I said that I was going through all my old posts and updating them? And I also said that I’d be reposting my favorite ones on Thursdays and posting the rest of them throughout the week on Facebook and Twitter and on my Weekend Links?
Yeah, I haven’t done that, obviously.
Partly because the last two weeks have been hard. And when I struggle with depression and anxiety on that level, it’s all I can do to take care of my kids. Blogging becomes impossible.
And partly because I’m finding many of my old posts can’t or shouldn’t be updated. They should quietly live in the archives where no one will ever see them again. They are not good. I’m not trying to be humble here. I’m serious. I can say this with certainty, because it’s my blog. And if I’m reading them, cringing and/or bored to tears, I am certain you will be, too.
In the beginning of my blog, I was blogging from material I had previously written for Bible studies. So, most of those early posts are insanely long and contain 27 scriptures and had multiple parts which became a series. I’m still trying to figure out if I should save that stuff for a book or repost it in shorter, more digestible blog posts. I just don’t know. So, those are staying where they are for now.
In 2008-2010, I was also trying to find my voice, my niche and my direction. Many of those early posts reflect that awkward growth process. It’s like revisiting Blog Adolescence. Where my blog had acne and wore Jordache jeans. No one needs to go back there.
All that to say, I’m going to continue going through old posts, updating where I can. As I do, I will be promoting them when I think I found something you will like. It just may not be every week. And I know you don’t even care about all that, because, you are the kindest, most supportive readers on the internet. But I like to keep you in the loop, because I like you.

Speaking of depression, that post I wrote on depression and anxiety really struck a chord with you. Thank you to all the people who reached out privately through email or text to offer support or share your own struggles. I thought it may be helpful to post a few links to other posts I have written on managing depression. I also have a Pinterest board on Natural Remedies for Depression, and you can find a few more articles there.

I tell the story of being diagnosed, going on meds and going to therapy in 2008 in a blog series. You can find those posts here, here, here, and here.

Enough about me! I discovered a new favorite blog. After poking around for awhile, I grabbed these two posts for you to enjoy.

How To Be Seen, by Melissa Camara Wilkins
Oh, did you read about this mom who wrote the letter to Party City about the sexy little girl costumes? I want to stand on the bleachers and cheer her on. Great letter, well-written, worth the read.

And finally, THANK YOU to everyone who has taken my blog survey. I’m leaving it up for a few more days and then I’m going to analyze the results and share them with you. It is so fun reading all your responses. If you have not yet taken it, WILL YOU? It’s only 10 questions and will take less than 5 minutes.

Hilarious and true for me too. Cringe-worthy and now deleted or made private. Ick.
Yes. Mine will live quietly in the archives. Shhhh…no one has to know they are there.
Sandy,
I hope this finds you having a good week. When I was struggling mightily I found comfort in this song:

Have a great weekend.
Thanks, Mark. I love that song. 🙂
