Will You Answer a Quick Question for Me?
I had (what I thought was) this really great idea. But now, I’m not so sure.
For the entire month of January, I’m planning to be completely off the grid. Well, except for my phone and email, because apparently, this is how the humans communicate these days. But all social media and blogging will grow strangely dim for the duration of the month.
(This was, and remains to be, a really great idea. I don’t need your input on that one.)
But I was thinking, while I’m gone, I’d love to send those of you on my email list a daily email about balance to help you get 2018 off with clarity, focus, and peace. The daily email will be short–maybe 100-500 words. It may be a thought, a quote, a scripture, or a tip. I will slip it into your inbox at the predawn hour of 6 am EST, so it’s there when you wake up to have your coffee. It will take you less than 2 minutes to read. I’m calling it Everyday Balance.
(FYI, I can write and schedule these all ahead of time allowing me to be off the Internet, but also email you daily.)
BUT…
I ran this idea past a few trusted friends (none of whom read my blog), and they all said, “NO! A DAILY EMAIL? ARE YOU CRAZY? NO ONE WANTS A DAILY EMAIL FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH! Why not a weekly email? Or a daily email for 7 days? Or 5 days? Or NO DAYS! Just get off the Internet and don’t email anyone!”
Their point is that you are already inundated with emails. I am too. In fact, I’d like to draw your attention to the bottom right corner of this photo. This is the actual email app on my actual phone at this actual minute.
Yes, I have 5,174 unread emails.
The absolute last thing you or I need is more emails to add to the noise.
So, here’s my question. If I did a daily, short, encouraging email for the month of January, would this be something you’d enjoy or hate?
I would like your opinion, please. Because, if you are on my email list, you will be the recipients of these daily emails. If these emails will annoy you and cause you to unsubscribe from my list, I won’t do it. But if you think you would find them helpful and encouraging, then I’m all in.
I’ve created a poll with options. Please vote!
