Ep 216: 7 Strategies to Make Your Family Bible Time Fun and Engaging w/Laurie Christine

Does this happen in your house? You announce that you’re going to start having family devotions and your kids are like…ugh. that’s so booooorrrring! It doesn’t have to be this way. Family Bible time can be meaningful, fun, and engaging for everyone in the family. If Starting family devotions is one of your goals for 2024, then you are in for a treat.

Today I welcome back to the show my friend Laurie Christine. Laurie is a teacher and an author and a mom to 4 busy boys. And she’s here to share seven practical ways to engage your kids with Scripture. This episode is super tactical. You’re gonna love it. Also, This is part 2 of a 2 part conversation, so if you haven’t yet listened to EP215, pause that and listen to it first.

We discuss:

The 7 Strategies:

  1. Be passionate/read with expression
  2. Connect with prior knowledge
  3. Model your thought process
  4. Give object lessons
  5. Try “total participation”
  6. Ask great questions that inspire discussion
  7. Keep it fresh

What’s on Laurie’s to-don’t list? (It involves NOT cleaning something!)

Laurie’s encouragement to moms who feel overwhelmed or discouraged at the thought of starting family devotions

More about Laurie:

Laurie Christine is an author, podcast host, certified Biblical Parenting Coach, Bible teacher, wife, and mom of four wild, loud, adventurous boys.

Her podcast, Redeeming the Chaos, invites moms of boys to join her on the wild, wonderful, chaotic adventure of raising courageous boys and connecting them with Christ.

In addition to hosting a podcast, Laurie writes devotions and Bible stories for families. As a mom of four boys, she understands how important it is for parents to connect with their children, while communicating the truth of God’s Word to them in a way they can understand.

Her newest book, Rise of the Enemy, is the first book in her Dragon Slayer Bible series. It’s available now on Amazon.
