Ep 191: How the Crockpot Changed My Life (for real) with Stephanie O’Dea

What if you wanted to stay home so badly with your kids, that you were willing to try an unconventional work-from-home strategy? What if it involved a New Year’s Resolution and your crockpot? And what if that crazy idea landed you on the Rachel Ray Show and the New York Times Best Seller list?

Today I welcome to the show my friend Stephanie O’Dea. She is a New York Times Bestselling author, the host of The Slow Living Podcast, and the blogger behind A Year of Slow Cooking. In Part 1 of our conversation, we discuss

  • How the crockpot changed her life (for good)
  • How the Instant Pot changed it again (for bad)
  • Her most popular crockpot recipe (because it’s that good!)
  • Her personal favorite crockpot recipe (that she invented!)
  • Her worst crockpot disaster (don’t try this at home!)

More about Stephanie:

Steph is a mom to three kiddos and Sheldon — her pandemic basset hound puppy.

She’s a New York Times best-selling author and the host of the Slow Living podcast. She writes, coaches, teaches, and speaks about how to make your dreams come true without hype or hustle. She’s been featured on Good Morning America, Rachel Ray, Oprah.com., Real Simple, Prevention, and New York Post.

She specializes in long-term goal planning and achieving. She strongly believes that there’s no reason to rush and feel as if you are “behind” — because with careful planning and a good game plan you, too, can live out your own version of the American Dream. It sounds counter-intuitive, but you can actually achieve MORE when you GO SLOW.

She likes Reese’s Peanut butter cups, napping, cheap white wine with a screw-top, garden gnomes, brie cheese, and her crockpots (she has 14!).
