Ep 101: 3 Weights You Should Set Down Today
In Scripture, life is depicted as a race. How we choose to run determines our quality of life, and whom or what we choose to run toward determines our peace and joy. ~Cynthian Heald
Are you weary? Do you feel like life is harder than it’s supposed to be? Does it seem like everything is a constant uphill battle? Maybe it’s because you’re carrying extra weight. Today I’m going to share 3 weights you may be carrying that you didn’t even realize you picked up along the way. And hopefully, by the end of this episode, you’ll feel a little bit lighter. Listen in.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. 3 Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.
Hebrews 12:1-3 (NLT)
Running is hard. Even on the best day, running makes us tired, thirsty, and sore. But sometimes we make our run harder than it should be.
Do you have pockets on your running gear that you don’t even know you had? What have you stuffed in there that’s weighing you down?
1. Self-imposed expectations
2. Misplaced guilt
3. Unforgivness/Record of wrongs
