Weekend Links {22}
As I write this, it is officially spring and actually feels like it. Spring teased us here in Kentucky a month or so ago–I opened my windows, hung spring wreaths, and washed off the porch furniture. Then, just when the trees and daffodils started blooming, we had this freakish snow along with icy temperatures. Not even enough snow to play in or cancel school. Just enough to kill all the blossoms, and also, our joy.
In other news, next week at this time, I will be the mother of an adult (when I started this blog, she was 8). She has officially made her college choice and I just booked the venue for her high school graduation party, and I guess all this means I have absolutely NO SAY in whether or not my kids grow up. Totally not fair.
I’m continuing to work on The Scoop on Balance Bible Study and I’m planning on a Fall launch. So, if you are a Bible Study girl, and you usually do one in the Fall when school starts, I have the PERFECT Bible study for you. Seriously, I’m so excited about this material. I’ll keep talking about it, so you don’t need to worry that you will miss it. As it gets closer, I will have some special offers for those on my e-mail list. If you are not on my list, you will want to do that today!
(Not sure if you’re on the list? If you received this via e-mail, then you probably are. That’s not sarcasm. I say probably, because unless your e-mail says Mailchimp at the bottom, you are not on the list. You probably signed up at one time to get updates from WordPress. I can’t send e-mails to you if you do that, only blog posts. I have the e-mail sign up form all over my blog, so just go there and sign up. If you came here via Facebook, you are also not on my list. Facebook is nice, but you won’t get my e-mails. And sometimes, Facebook won’t even show you my blog posts. It’s not really that nice.)
Okay–here are a few good things I saw around the Internet this week:
25 Little Things You Can Do to Reach Your Fitness Goals, by Sandy Cooper. That’s me. I’m putting this first, because I don’t want you to miss out. This is my e-book, on sale always, but especially timely in light of summer being right around the corner. If you need a little structure and a little encouragement in little bites, this e-book is perfect. It’s cheap too–only $5. It’s almost bathing suit season, you guys. And if you are going to the beach for spring break, like I am, it’s already bathing suit season.
What Happened When I Replaced Sorry with Thank You, by Amanda Elder via Huffington Post. I’ve written about this very thing before–the problem I have with saying “I’m sorry” for everything (I’m sorry my house is messy, I’m sorry I don’t have make-up on, etc). It’s so dumb. I’ve started implementing her suggestion to say “thank you” instead, and it’s been magically freeing. For my post on the subject, you can click here: My Vow to Stop Apologizing
Ten Signs Your Life is Too Busy, by Amy Brinton via No Sidebar This was very timely, as I had some insane weeks lately. I think I tested positive for 9 out of the 10 signs. Not good.
What if All I Want is A Mediocre Life?, by Krista O’Reilly Davi-Digui, via No Sidebar. My friend, Valerie, shared this with me and my Bible Study (the Bible Study Babes is what we call ourselves). It sparked great conversation about balance and rest and drive and comparison and pressure. I have been thinking about this post all week.
How To Grow Vegetable From Kitchen Scraps (1:14 mim video, via Facebook) Did you know you could do this???? I had no idea. So fascinating. I can’t wait to try it.
I hope spring is beautiful wherever you are.
I read that “mediocre life” post earlier this week and cried, because it voiced every feeling and thought regarding how I’ve been feeling /thinking the last few years. One of those, “Wish I could have written that!” type posts.
Me too! I told my Bible Study Babes that I have two distinct voices in my head. One is saying the content of this post. The other is telling me to Change The World and Make the Most of Every Opportunity. It is a constant struggle to hear which voice is God’s voice. Because, for me, it can be both, depending on the day or season or situation.
I’m planning my summer vacation. I have a garden, where I plant vegetables, I want to find some mints. Thanks for sharing.
Have a nice weekend!
