Fitness Friday: It’s My Blog and I Can Brag if I Want To
Last Sunday, my husband completed the Revolution3. That would be a triathlon. That would be a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike and a 13.1 mile run. That would be complete and utter torture for me.
But for my husband? Well, he’s a stud. We established that fact back in this post.
He’s been training for this event for months. He sacrificed nearly every second of his free time sleep to be ready. And even though I missed having him around as often as I’m used to, he did a fine job of keeping his family a priority through it all.
Of the two of us, I have always been the fitness nut in the family. In our almost 18 years of marriage, he has gone through ebbs and flows of consistently working out, whereas I have remained very consistent. But when he participated in the Ride to Conquer Cancer in September 2009 (a 150 mile bike ride!) he found his true love. Well, his OTHER true love. Because Fitness Friday Girl happens to be his FIRST true love. Let’s be clear about that.
Anyway, that bike ride propelled him into Crazy-Fitness-Man status—far surpassing anything I have ever done or ever will do in the fitness world. Somehow, in comparison, I’ve become the slug. But I’m thinking I may need to hand over my keyboard on Fridays and let HIM write this post from now on. You know, let this situation work in my favor.
This is the second event of its kind that he completed. Last August, he competed in a Half Iron Man, in addition to doing a handful of smaller triathlons. This year he beat his time by one minute, completing the entire course in 5 hours 12 minutes. That’s a really good time, by the way. The man is unstoppable.
One good thing that happened at last year’s event, is that Jon dropped my old camera in the lake, forcing him to have to buy me this cool NEW camera for Christmas–which, of course, allowed me to take all these great pictures of HIM! Let’s look at some of those great pictures, shall we?
that's incredible!! congrats to him. and i know how lonely the hubby gets when i'm out training – so contrats to you to making it thru all the training he must have done!
Wow…Just wow. I have no desire to do such a thing, but I am in awe of those who do!
