God Speaks Again, and Again, and Again
The other night, the last thing I read before turning off the light was this:
“Life on earth is a temporary assignment…To make the best use of your life, you must never forget two truths: First, compared with eternity, life is extremely brief. Second, earth is only a temporary residence. You won’t be here long, so don’t get too attached….This is not your permanent home or final destination. You’re just passing through, just visiting earth.” ~ Rick Warren, The Purpose-Driven Life
When my alarm went off early the next morning, the radio was playing this:
Little boy, 6 years old
A little too used to bein’ alone.
Another new mom and dad, another school,
Another house that’ll never be home.
When people ask him how he likes this place…
He looks up and says, with a smile upon his face,
“This is my temporary home
It’s not where I belong.
Windows and rooms that I’m passin’ through.
This is just a stop, on the way to where I’m going.
I’m not afraid because I know this is my
Temporary Home.”
Young mom on her own.
She needs a little help, got nowhere to go.
She’s lookin’ for a job, lookin’ for a way out,
Because a half-way house will never be a home.
At night she whispers to her baby girl,
“Someday we’ll find our place here in this world.”
“This is our temporary home.
It’s not where we belong.
Windows and rooms that we’re passin’ through.
This is just a stop, on the way to where we’re going.
I’m not afraid because I know this is our
Temporary Home.”
Old man, hospital bed,
The room is filled with people he loves.
And he whispers don’t cry for me,
I’ll see you all someday.
He looks up and says, “I can see God’s face.”
“This is my temporary Home
It’s not where I belong.
Windows and rooms that I’m passin’ through.
This was just a stop,on the way to where I’m going.
I’m not afraid because I know… this was
My temporary home.”
This is our temporary home.
And when I sat down in the stillness of my dark, sleeping house with my fresh cup of coffee, I cracked open my Bible, and the first scripture I read was this:
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” I Corinthians 9:24-25
I love when God speaks so clearly…repeatedly, quietly, privately.
What is God repeating to you?
I love it too.
So wonderfully sweet, when God speaks again and again and again.
Fondly,
Glenda
Oh my goodness, three times in the past two days, in various places, I have come across this scripture:
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'" Matt. 25:40
I love it when I hear something over and over again, and can recognize that it's God and I'm hearing Him! 🙂
I LOVE this. And I've been experiencing the same things. I'll be writing about it over the next few weeks!!
So cool.
Love and hugs to you,
Kate 🙂
